Chapter Information
Chi Psi was founded by Philip Spencer at Union College in Schenectady, New York in 1841. It was the first fraternity founded on principles of brotherhood, as opposed to the literary focused groups of the time. Chi Psi had the first fraternity house in the country in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1845 known as “The Lodge”; because of its resemblance to a hunting lodge. Currently, there are 34 active institutions across the country with FSU being the most recent expansion project. Chi Psi’s mission is to create and maintain an enduring society which encourages the sharing of traditions and values, respect for oneself and others, and responsibility to university and community.
