Why Join a Fraternity?

Fraternities provide a unique, enriching experience both during your college years and as an alumnus. As you may be exploring many exciting extracurricular opportunities at Florida State University, we encourage you to also consider joining an IFC fraternity. Becoming a fraternity man gives you an experience that most other clubs or organizations cannot; a life-long brotherhood. A brotherhood is a social network of men who support each other through common interests that continues beyond the undergraduate years as an eternal bond.

Today, with 18 IFC fraternities and over 2,400 members in the IFC community, we are excited to have you be a part of it. The fraternity and sorority life community consists of approximately 20% of the FSU undergraduate population. It is an intimate community that welcomes people from all backgrounds, with each organization representing a diversity of interests. Being a member of the Greek community gives students the access and exposure to a broader network of student leaders on campus, networking opportunities, a sense of community, and more.

Not every current fraternity man at Florida State came here knowing that they were going to join a fraternity. However, after meeting the members at various recruitment events, many have gained a completely new perspective on what fraternity life is like here at FSU, which certainly defies many stereotypes. Many members have had experiences that have helped shape who they are personally, professionally, academically, and socially. We hope that you will look into our chapters and find one that is right for you! In this section, you will have the opportunity to hear directly from different members of the IFC community on how joining an IFC fraternity improved their overall student experience at Florida State.
