The Men of Principle Scholarship Grant Program was established in 1999 through generous donations to the Beta Theta Pi Foundation to help individual chapters and colonies of the Fraternity recognize unaffiliated (non-Greek) male students on college campuses. We seek to reward these men for their devotion to the values that the Fraternity holds dear to our hearts – mutual assistance, intellectual growth, trust, integrity and responsible conduct – and for outspoken, positive leadership in our communities.

Pi Kappa Alpha’s Ryan C. L’Homme Scholarship

Ryan C. L’Homme graduated from Bloomingdale High School in 1999 with the dream of pursuing a degree in Electrical Engineering from the Florida State University. He was also excited to continue his decade-long passion for sports as student while making new connections both on and off campus. He was able to make the Dean’s list in his first semester with a 3.5 GPA and set up his future opportunities to be involved with greek life as well as the many sports offered to FSU’s students. Ryan was then accepted as a founding member of Pi Kappa Alpha in February of 2000, and happily joined the Pi Kappa Alpha intramural softball team. In the middle of a softball game in March of 2000, Ryan was tragically struck with a softball to the temple and never regained his consciousness. Ryan’s parents, Charles and Terri, made efforts to keep their son in everyone’s memory by starting the Ryan C. L’Homme Scholarship Foundation, which is awarded to a Pi Kappa Alpha brother each Fall semester. The priorities and qualities which are reviewed in for the selection for those awarded this scholarship include academic standing, field of study, and prospective commitments and plans towards the Delta Lambda chapter of the Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity.

Sigma Phi Epsilon’s Balanced Man Scholarship

Are you a high school senior or a current college undergraduate who believes in developing both your mind and body as a way to live a complete life? Are you looking for a scholarship that recognizes your achievements inside and outside of the classroom?

Sigma Phi Epsilon (SigEp) is awarding over $225,000 at 160 campuses across the country during the 2015-2016 academic year with its Balanced Man Scholarships. The Scholarship awards students who exhibit academic excellence, demonstrate leadership skills, and commit to their health and well-being. The Ancient Greeks believed in developing a Sound Mind and a Sound Body as the way to live a fulfilling life. SigEp adopted this philosophy with the Balanced Man Ideal and, since 1990, has awarded the Balanced Man Scholarship to some of the best students coming to campus. We believe that recognizing students who exhibit balance and all-around excellence is one way to promote this important ideal. Therefore, we are offering one-time scholarships in the amount of $1,000 each. Our goal is to reward young men who demonstrate having a Sound Mind in a Sound Body as we believe that it is essential to leading a balanced life.
